JEREMY ELIOSOFF

PAINTINGSPASTELSBIO / CONTACT

Jeremy Eliosoff was born in Montreal, Canada, where he currently resides. He received a BFA from Concordia University's Studio Arts program (2002), and a diploma in Computer Animation from Sheridan College (2003). Since then, he has been making visual effects for film, television, and live theater. He resumed his neglected painting practice in 2010.

Jeremy's style of painting and drawing can be described as "precise impressionism". Oil paint and pastels are applied in loose, ballistic motions, allowing a cohesive image to emerge from random seeming marks. The resulting works present a tension between medium and image that is inspired by the traditions of impressionism and expressionism, and influenced by such late-19th- and early-20th-century European artists as Edouard Manet, Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, and Edvard Munch, as well as contemporary artists such as Marlene Dumas and Peter Doig.
